WOW......

Lawsuit alleges Cesar Ramirez referred to Asians as "shit people," purposely served them inferior cuts of meat.

In New York, a lawsuit filed against an acclaimed Brooklyn chef alleges that he regularly discriminated against Asian customers, referring to them as "shit people," and purposely served them the inferior cuts of meat.

Chef at ritzy restaurant served the worst meat Asians: suit

César Ramirez of Chef's Table at Brooklyn Fare, a purportedly classy three-Michelin-star rated restaurant, is accused of openly prohibiting Asian customers from being placed too close to him at his section at the fusion French-Asian eatery, routinely referring to them as "shit people." He also dictated that Asians were to be served lesser scraps of meat, while preferred diners were given choice chunks.

According to a lawsuit filed by some of his former sous chefs and servers, Ramirez was blatant about his biases, and went out of his way to discriminate against Asian diners. I think calling anyone "shit people" makes it pretty clear how you feel about them.

"When a large piece of meat was cut into many pieces for the guests, Defendant Ramirez instructed Ms. Howard to give the worst pieces of meat to the ‘s-?-t people,’ i.e. Asian people, and to Upper West Siders," the suit states.

EEOC filed suit against Honeywell for their "Wellness Program"

"Honeywell International Inc. (HON) defeated the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s bid for a court order preventing it from penalizing workers who don’t participate in a corporate wellness program.

After hearing arguments today, U.S. District Judge Ann Montgomery in Minneapolis denied the agency’s request to block the company from assessing the health insurance-related surcharges.

Montgomery was asked to decide whether the wellness program, which Honeywell said was enacted in furtherance of President Barack Obama’s Affordable Care Act, conflicts with other federal laws. Saying she wasn’t ready to make even a preliminary determination, she allowed the company’s practices to continue.

Honeywell, a maker of products including life support systems for human space travel and home thermostats, is one of many U.S. businesses that use such incentives to encourage employees to submit to medical examinations and receive advice on fitness, nutrition and other behaviors.

While 80 percent of workers support wellness programs that promote healthy behaviors, according a June survey by the Menlo Park, California-based Kaiser Family Foundation, 62 percent don’t approve of requiring non-participants to pay more for their health insurance.

Why should people who don't care about their lifestyle be able to take advantage of the opportunities that those who do are afforded???????? Only in the minds of union-minded liberal beauracrats.
#24
December 3, 2014 8:40 AM - BoerumHillScott
My company gives a small incentive for participating in the wellness program.
I did it last year because all it required was one screening/consultation session at the office.
They made it more difficult this year, so I did not bother.
Perhaps I should sue.

I love this car. It's a 1950 Cadillac and is what is known as a "resto-rod" meaning that it's essentially a stock looking exterior (with a great modern metallic paint job and new wheel rims and tires) but it has a 6.0 L EFI V8, auomatic transmission, disc brakes, AC and a modern interior (but retains a retro dash)

"But which tech companies nowadays don't have most of the revenues from essentially what are consumer products???"
IBM, Cisco, EMC, and Oracle are close to 100% business revenue.
HP, Intel, Microsoft, and Dell have a majority business revenue.

Aapl might source most Rev from consumers but it's legit tech company. They have own OS, software products, hardware, chip designs, and enough IP patents to be considered innovator.

Oracle, cisco now just buy companies then merge the stuff together. Dell has very little innovation.

From a financial and investing point of view, there is a huge difference between enterprise tech business and a consumer tech business.
I just irritates me when business press that should know better lumps them together.

Dell actually has some pretty cool stuff on the enterprise side when it comes to blade servers and storage. I was at a Dell event last night.

I have a Poltrona Frau leather day bed/ couch which I purchased for $75 dollars at an apartment sale.
It's the leather they use in Ferraris.
Tried selling it on Ebay since it didn't fit my more craftsman style decor but there were no takers at the price I wanted and no way I was going to let it go cheap when the price brand new is well in the five figure range.
It's now doing nicely in my CT place.

VMware is the clear leader in x86 virtualization, and they are primarily owned by EMC.
Red Hat is potential to be a competitor, but they keep playing catch-up, and are not willing to drop their price enough to really compete.

I have bought antique boards from them before but they are not where I got the wood for the pie safe.

That list of 10 old-school Italian places is hitting about 50%.

Joe's of Ave U has been phoning it in for about 6 years - the owner is much more involved in his big fruit store (I think it's called Circus) on Ft. Hamilton Parkway. They tried to branch out to Staten Island, and that flopped too - the place recently closed down.

New Corner is nota big deal, except that it's been there a long time.

Agree with Legion that Tomasso's should have been on the list. Not Fiorentino's though. I grew up around the corner from the Fiorentino family, and that place used to be great. Since the brother who managed the kitchen died, it's so-so. Moreover, the surviving brother who serves as the host has a surly attitude.

One more thing: most people know L&B for their pizza, and rightly so. It also has a restaurant there, which is mostly comfort food. If, however, you get a group together, and arrange their "Chef's table" special, it is surprisingly fantastic. I think you need a group of at least 20 to do so. About $65/person.

DeBlasio directed the law department to settle with the Central Park jogger non-rapists who spent the prime of their life in prison. I think they deserve the bucks, which can't begin to pay them back. Bloomberg's administration dragged its feet for years.

DBag is loathed here in Rockaway because he is a liar.
He wants to continue to place homeless shelters and half-way houses in communities
still reeling from Sandy. This despite hearing from the minority communities in those areas about how the shelters will only serve to hinder recovery and increase local crime rates.
He also lied about the money available for continued ferry service to and from Rockaway and Manhattan. Funding has been available and more funding was set aside from federal and state dollars earmarked for services in Rockaway but he still went ahead and took away the ferry while stating he knew nothing about money for Rockaway.
Additionally,
he continues to attempt to take away the federal funding sent in for recovery from Sandy, in order to use on other "pet" projects he has.
It's well known he wants to avoid Rockaway at all costs.

You mean *your* borough, where you live in a duplex in Park Slope, with a dog walker, while you work in Soho? That borough? : P

I'm still at work cleaning display cases and merchandising the jewelry counter and cabinets. Just can't be done during normal business hours. I'm about two days away from feeling ready. Sales have not kicked in to insane mode yet. Many people are pre-shopping.

I'll pop back in later after I get home and see if Pepper is still awake.

"re: the teacher who was killed in Abu Dhabi, the State Dept had issued a warning that jihadists were going to target teachers specifically and otherts oth here and over there."

That's why we have a checkpoint outside NYU here. The killer was a woman, according to witnesses.

Hard working lady! Good luck with it all!

Freaky story, Six. What do you think? Love triangle? If it was a woman...who can tell in that garb?
December 3, 2014 10:28 PM - Cobble B. Hiller
Or do you believe jihadists targeting teachers? Be safe!

That's really scary, six. That educators are targets, just for passing along knowledge.

Hiram Walker's Swiss Chocolate Almond Liqueur on the rocks is super DELICIOUS! Gift from neighbor is coming in handy as I am wineless.

Ha! Cocktail and beddy bye for me.

Are people rioting anywhere. I have no idea what is going on. BoCoCaland is a gated community.

I haven't heard of rioting, only peaceful demonstrations. I can't believe no indictment. It's beyond me. The video told me everything I need to know.

I remember.

Have the protests been orderly?
