I think I might expire, I really didn't sleep well. We ate dinner late, and it was buttery/fatty, and my stomach was not happy. Odd, I can usually eat whtever I like.

No! I didn't say that/diarrhea! My tummy is gassy and acid-y, so I'm burping a lot!
And getting a little acid reflux. Yucky.

Lovely how RF feels the need to non-chalantly spoil a current in the theatre movie :/ I don't care because I am not a fan of movies, except for Monster, Welcome Home Roxy Carmichael, and Poison Ivy (the one with drew Barrymore not that embarrassment with Michael j fox with the same title). haha i had a confrontation with a self-entitled asshole before the showing of Boyhood.

some british woman was standing in the middle of the aisle looking all confused - i plopped down in the seats on the aisle (last ones not in the front row) - she walks away - comes back 5 minutes later telling me how rude i was as she was saving those seats.

i go "if these were your seats, you'd be sititng in them"

PWND

everyone in the seats around us laughed.

There are a couple of closed end funds that work the same way and trade at a discount to net asset value. Think I would prefer those.
The last few years have seen an amazing run in the major averages. I think we are getting very late in the game. Stocks are moderately over valued and there is near certainty that rates will start to rise by mid 2015.
There could still be good gains to be had, but I am slowly reducing my exposure to equities and raising cash. Aiming to be 50% long by year end. Down from 110% long earlier.
In other words, I am switching from offense to defense.

Yes. Though I don't think wea are anywhere near bubble territory and the market is not overvalued based on 2014 & 2015 multiple, NASDAQ is certainly far more stretched and the msot recent correction, however slight and sjort lived, was started by a selloff in NASDAQ stocks.

The Secretary of Defense, Chuck Hegel, attended General Greene's funeral.

What is the point of that list? One more reason to hate Obama? It's stupid, and comparing apples and oranges. All violent death is generally pointless and horrific. You and the rest of the right who are all foaming at the mouth about this are trying to say that the death of a black teenager is more important to Obama than that of a murdered journalist or a decorated general. A high ranking Cabinet member is not a representative of the White House? Must be news to all those Secretaries of State for the last couple hundred years. Not to mention Secretaries of Defense. You are splitting hairs.

The administration representatives to Michael Brown's funeral were Broderick Johnson of My Brother’s Keeper Task Force; Marlon Marshall, deputy director of the White House Office of Public Engagement; and Heather Foster, adviser for the Office of Public Engagement.

Considering these people, as low level as they are, deal with issues pertaining to what is going on in Ferguson, why not? As to why no specific admin people were officially sent to the other funerals? I'm not in the administration, there could be a thousand good reasons, I'm not in the position to judge, and neither are you.

I'm sure, if I had the time or inclination, I could come up with three or four people who died around the same time during other administrations, all good people who might have deserved to have presidential aides at their funerals, and didn't. But go ahead, make a big deal out of this. What else is new?

DH;

Until the facts surrounding the Michael Brown case have been examined, there is no national issue at stake. Indeed, there are reports our there that his killing was justified. Moreover, if these stories are true, it would be nothing more that a budding thug getting shot refusing to listen to an officer of the law, to the extent of breaking his eye socket. The White House, like others, is impatient to have this adjudicated in the proper manner and is eager to craft a narrative for political purposes.

-On the other hand, the two people I mentioned were casualties of an ongoing war against this country and their sacrifice should be honored by a representative of the White House.

You know what's great? How this whole Michael Brown thing has blown up in the face of the racial arsonists, and those in the media who were cowed by them. They are still shocked that this hasn't played out according to their worn-out playbook.

First of all, no unarmed person's killing is justified. Are we the new Taliban? Some kind of lawless society where people can kill other people on a whim? I should hope not.

Secondly, he was a young man, not a thug. IF he was guilty of robbing a store of a couple of cigars, that's not an executionable offense. You arrest him, you don't kill him. And the cop who shot him did not even know about the robbery at that time, so Brown was not a fleeing suspect, or even any kind of perp, except being a black inner city youth. Not even thugs deserve to be cut down in the street when they have their hands up, so some gun happy THUG cop can shoot him in the back and in the head.

The officer's eye socket was not broken, there is absolutely NO PROOF of that whatsoever. They have photos of him before, during and after. If he fractured his eye socket it certainly would have shown up in photos, and he would have been in the hospital in a lot of pain. It's a lie. Unless you believe everything that Faux News spews as an excuse for killing someone. Oh look, you do.

POlitical purposes? Like justice for all? Yeah, that's a political purpose with an ulterior motive, I'm sure.

Well, I too am dismayed. Not at all that the White House sent representatives to Michael Brown's funeral but that it may not have to the intrepid journalist's nor our valiant General's.

As anyone who has lost a veteran knows, representatives of the branch of the military of which he or she served, will attend the burial. I will never forget the solemn words spoken by the young sailor at my father's funeral. After carefully folding the American flag which had draped my father's coffin, he began, "On behalf of our President, George W. Bush, ..."

Although not a fan of the President at the time, I was deeply honored by what felt like his presence on that day. I believed he personally had sent an envoy.

Extraordinarily powerful moment to be handed that flag. Only deep love for one's country can bring that level of importance to the moment.

The Secretary of Defense, the highest civilian member of the President's cabinet, dealing with the military, attended the funeral. I'm sure the General's family felt that the president was honoring their sacrifice and his service.

Well, I see that folks are still at it. How to discuss an issue? First, it was the race card. But I give the prize to Pete, who first said that I'm just a Fox News copier troll, and then tries to obfuscate the issue. So, for you, Pete, let's set the record straight.

In my post above, I said that President Obama did not send a representative to his Memorial Mass, which was held last Sunday with his parents in attendance. I did not speak of his funeral, did I, Pete?

At the memorial Mass, both senators from New Hampshire were present, as was the governor. Pope Francis sent a letter to be read at the Mass. The President had no representative at the Mass. Here was an American journalist publicly beheaded by an enemy of the country, and nobody in the President's staff saw fit to participate at a Memorial Mass that his parents attended in his honor.

Here's the story in AOL News, Pete (are they secretly owned by Fox News, Pete?):

http://www.aol.com/article/2014/08/25/biishop-slain-u-s-journalist-foley-opened-our-eyes/20951829/

And again I contrast it to the fact that they saw fit to send three representatives to Michael Brown's funeral, when the circumstances of his death are not clear AND the case is going through the justice system. And contrary to how it is being spun here, there is a possibility that he beat the cop, and reached for his gun. If that is how it turns out, he deserves no honor.

Foley’s family and friends plan a more formal funeral on his birthday, Oct. 18, in part to give his friends from around the world the opportunity to attend. Foley’s parents spoke at length to reporters during a news conference last week, but declined interviews Sunday. None of his friends or family members gave formal remarks during the traditional Catholic Mass.

From the AOL article:
A funeral for Foley will be Oct. 18, what would have been his 41st birthday.

I assume that since they allowed 2 US senators and a governor to attend the Mass and a letter from Pope Francis to be read, they would not have objected to some representation from the President. Er, allow me to cut and paste directly from the article:

"The Mass was attended by Foley's parents, John and Diane Foley, and hundreds of others in their hometown of Rochester, New Hampshire. Afterward, Libasci read aloud a letter from the Vatican extending the condolences of Pope Francis.

"Thank you for loving Jim," Diane Foley told the crowd after the Mass.

The crowd filled every pew and people stood three deep at the back of the church and along both sides of it. Gov. Maggie Hassan, along with U.S. Sens. Jeanne Shaheen and Kelly Ayotte, attended the Mass."

August 26, 2014 10:17 PM - rf
Ok, they were there. Maybe the family is angry at the administration because they wouldn't pay ransom? Maybe they didn't want an official representative of the federal government? This was not the official funeral which will take place on his birthday.

The Obama administration failed James Foley in the 21 months before the journalist was savagely executed, the dead man’s brother charged.
Michael Foley, speaking Friday with Yahoo News, said the beheading of his sibling by Islamic State (ISIS) jihadists should change America’s handling of similar cases in the future.
“There’s more that could have been done directly on Jim’s behalf,” Michael Foley said in a shot at the White House. “I really, really hope that Jim’s death pushes us to take another look at our approach to terrorist and hostage negotiation.”
