How much does stuff go down post xmas?
(better to pick a brother's brain on these matters - especially one who is known to get "more for less")

"Snappy, I didn't know Mr Boo and Pia were such good dancers."

And freaks of nature with human legs. Reminds me of those Wegman pics where the dogs have hands. MIL loved dogs at a DSM-IV diagnosable level. She had a Wegman ABC video where the dogs acted out each letter of the alphabet. Very eerie to watch those dogs doing various tasks with their hands. She had another video where the dogs made a big pot of soup.

Hey, Legion. I liked your Christmas tree time travel tale of last evening. I had a similar moment yesterday.

Mine was a strong flashback that had me travel back to being an infant. I was remarking to a customer who had her baby girl in a carriage with us, just how wonderful her life (the baby's) was. She was bundled up and warm, had her favorite blanket pulled up to her face, had her bottle of milk on her lap and her favorite doll within reach. Suddenly, I felt I was transported into the carriage with MY favorite blanky. It lasted a few seconds and then, much the same way one can feel a jolt preventing one from drifting off to sleep, i snapped out of it and returned to shopgirl.

From diehipster....

Two bearded, thick eyeglass framed, Converse-clad hipster transplants were sitting down for a break in their soon-to-be new hand-crafted, artisanal pickle and DIY butcher store in Greenpoint. As of yet, the store wasn’t ready, with only a few shelves and display racks set up.

One said to the other, “I’ll bet that any minute now some native that’s still lingering in OUR ’NABE‘ is going to walk by, put his face to the window, and ask what we’re selling.”

Sure enough, just a moment later, a curious real Brooklyn gentleman walked up to the window, looked around intensely and tapped on the glass. Then in a loud voice asked, “What are you sellin’ here?”

One of the celery-legged gentrifiers nasally replied sarcastically, “We’re selling assholes.”

Without skipping a beat, the Brooklynite said, “You must be doing well. Only two left.”

That's sort of a variation on the Harvard asshole joke I posted here a while back.

Student at [insert name of your groovier than Harvard college here] went to visit a friend at Harvard and they planned to meet at the library. The [name of your college] student was lost, so he walked up to a senior student and asked, “Excuse me. Where’s the library at?”

The Harvard student snorted at the [name of your college] student, “Here at Harvard, we NEVER end a sentence in a preposition.”

“OK,” said the [name of your college] student. “Where’s the library at, asshole?”

Yes, dibs, I may have a beard but I shop in my local 99 cent store with no ironic intent whatsoever. In fact, farmhand's first venture across 5th Ave with no adult years back was to the 99 cent store. And I think we can all agree that the comment threads on diehipster, if the one you posted is any example, are a far lamer waste of time than ours, and ours has no content to speak of (besides a nice opening photo).

Well,
I just got home to find out that I don't have to start work until 4:30pm instead of 2:00pm. So, I guess that's good since I wasn't looking forward to driving to Queens (Canarsie is bad enough).
CGar-I'm sorry if you had to vent with personal info that you thought was TMI and you had to edit yourself. If it helps you any-for the majority of the time-I've been a raging basket-case for the most part since Sandy.
I think Thurs or Fri would be a great time to see you all again (and try to figure out who's who). If I am still working at this mishigas evening & weekend job I wouldn't get there until late. Whatever. I need to get back to script study. Bleach!

Slopey very experienced lawyer but clearly needs more education in other areas. if people can drink beer, smoke, etc during sex, eating a brownie is not "mission" impossible. you clearly need to sketch out some diagrams

The part of the "mission" that makes it impossible is finding someone who will do it with you WHILE you eat the brownies. I don't want a diagram because the impediment is not mechanics.

From the diehipster restaurant reviews....

Note the mention of kale at Roberta's...dh's go-to spot for overpriced locavore.....

Cafe Ghia in Bushwick – Vegan Scrambled Eggs with Kale and Tofu – only $10. Wash it down with a $7.00 bloody mary. Just be careful though, if the hipster beater sees you eating that pretension-on-a-plate you might be using a Louisville Slugger as a toothpick to get the kale out of your teeth.

Robertas Pizza in Bushwick - Ah yes, good old Robertas. Here you can score a bacon egg and cheese on a roll for a mere $9.00 instead of $2.50 at a regular deli. Why are you going to pay more at Robertas? Because the sandwich is ‘hand-crafted’ by a fucking beardo from Chatanooga you dumbass, that’s why. Ask your waiter about their local rooftop kale – the offical vegetable of the Brooklyn hipster.

Egg in Williamsburg – Put on your all-season scarf, your darkest indoor shades, and your tightest jeans because you are about to eat $9.00 pancakes sprinkled with Vermont maple syrup baby! Coffee has been reduced to only $3.00 a cup! Fill’er up Cadence!

Oops, sorry, rf, I'll leave the livingroom/lounge lights on, since you're still up! And help yourself to some cookies...I've made plenty...

Five & a half hours of fruitless driving around bklyn to "no show" appointments. And my manager who is supposed to be my navigator has terrible directions and has me driving miles out of the way-and then has the nerve to ask me why I don't have gps? Then I come home to find I've locked my cat in the coat closet. I'm a terrible mother. I'm the fucking "flowers in the attic" mother & my cat only had my jackets for company. Drink anyone?

Rower, if your cat is anything like mine, all is forgiven as soon as s/he gets to the food. Do you or your manager have an android phone? They come with gps. It runs down the battery fast but worth spending $12 or $15 for a car charger.

Oh and extra treats if the cat didn't leave you a little present in the closet!

Didn't smell anything. Vodka bad idea. Needed to do Dad's vertigo exercise. Feeling better now.

Bad directions are a pet peeve of mine, a subset of a larger category of pet peeves related to lack of spatial intelligence.
