There would be the same proportion of hotties in each world but I guess it stands to reason that the "idiot hotties" would be easier than the "genius hotties"

Spain Says Treasury Is Only Entity Left Able to Get Funding

"Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy said the debt agency is the only borrower left in Spain that can finance itself on markets as banks, companies and regional administrations have been shut out."

Eh Dave, where's all "these buyers" at???????
I know it's the government buying it's own bonds. It's like jerking off and looking in a mirror at your own ass!

Here is a more professional commentary on Spain from a friend of mine.

Spanish 10 year yields are back above 6.0%. The ECB should be buying a serious amount of Spanish bonds in the markets (at a discount, given prevailing prices) and subsequently allow Spain to benefit from the discount, thereby reducing Spanish debt to GDP and it's borrowing costs. The outstanding bonds will, as a result, increase in value, helping out Spanish banks. They should do the same for Portugal and other peripheral countries.

The Spanish remain in denial as to the huge problems remaining in their banking sector. Current estimates (by Spanish authorities) of the sector requiring additional capital of just E50bn is a complete and absolute joke - the amounts required will be many, many multiples of this amount, though impossible to estimate. Reports suggest that they are to force Spanish banks to provide a further E35bn - far, far lower than the amount necessary. The proposed announcements of a recap of up to E10bn for Bankia - expected this Friday - is, once again, too little to late - indeed yet another joke and certainly will not be believed by the markets and/or have any medium/long term positive market impact. The reality is that Spanish authorities have to undertake a one off and comprehensive resolution of their banking sector, as do others in the EZ.

Until the EZ's banking sector is fixed, there is no hope for the region, plain and simple. This will require a huge infusion of funds - certainly not possible from the private sector. EFSF/ESM funds could be used - but do they have enough?. The ECB will (inevitably) have to get involved - it's the only serious player around. An EZ bank bail out will (for political reasons) have to impact existing bank shareholders/bondholders, I would have thought (for political reasons at the very least), which is one (of the very many) major reasons I'm short the sector. Indeed, there is a scenario where the ECB/EZ countries could actually make some money out of this mess.

The ECB will get involved. Shareholders of banks in Europe are toast. No one cares.

Discussion of this subject is now closed for the day.

Return of You Know Who: SPAIN TO NATIONALIZE BANKIA LATER TODAY

The Government of Mariano Rajoy prepares conversion into capital of 4.465 million euros injected into the body through the Bank Restructuring Fund (FROB) to support the merger of the seven boxes of forming the group Financial Savings Bank ( BFA). This involves the partial nationalization of Bankia, which will run at the end of market, five-thirty in the afternoon, according to reliable sources consulted by ABC.

This conversion would make the state will hold the majority particpación BFA, although the exact percentage is unknown. In any case, the government would control a maximum of 45% of bank capital.

In parallel, Bankia is holding a special board which José Ignacio Goirigolzarri expected to take possession of the presidency and its parent Bankia BFA. Similarly, the output will be approved by Rodrigo Rato, who announced his resignation on Monday amid a controversy over the financial situation of the country's fourth largest financial institution.

Asked about the prime minister, Mariano Rajoy, has said that "does not overtake events" while it has sent a message of reassurance to customers Bankia. It has also explicao "The new management team of the institution shall take the measures it deems appropriate" when taking office.

Interesting post over there>>>>about Ridgewood. M4L talks about Ridgewood, then I just met an artsy-someone on Monday who lives there and loves it, then the person I work for chimes in that they have great Polish food there, and used to go there all the time. I've never heard so much about this neighborhood as now!

Cobble;

You're splitting hairs. As far as I'm concerned, there's nothing wrong with neighborhoods changing one way or other. It would be nice, however, out of some respect for the people who lived there previously, to not talk about the area as if it previously didn't exist or have anything interesting going. Doormen are annoying. They are great for picking up packages and letting in contractors, etc. into your apartment but that's about it. I work in a pretty small office building and the doorman knows everyone. He totally facebook stalks everyone at the office all day long because he is bored and god forbid you stop to say hello or waiting for the elevator that takes longer than usual, he will yap your ear off. He is one of those who doesn't have a life so all he wants to do is talk to everyone coming in and out of the building all day long. He is a nice guy but very annoying. I avoid him like a plague.

President Obama Officially Affirms His Support for Same-Sex Marriage
http://abcnews.go.com/Video/video?id=16312904&tab=9482931§ion=2808950&playlist=2808979

President Obama declared for the first time on Wednesday that he supports same-sex marriage, putting the moral power of his presidency behind a social issue that continues to divide the country.

"At a certain point,," Mr. Obama said in an interview in the Cabinet Room at the White House with ABC's Robin Roberts, "I've just concluded that for me personally, it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same sex couples should be able to get married."

M4L, the one charges the 6% will be willing to split with buyer's broker which heightens your chances to sell quick while the 2% broker will try to sell to someone coming to open house. You will get what you pay for. The 2% broker will list it ones, do 2 open houses and if no biters, will let it sit in the market for half a year until his contract expires while the other will try hard to sell it because of him getting the commission check. Trust me, see it all the time in my building.

But you started a topic and a minute later got news that he stopped the squirming and made a clear statement in favor, which I would think you would appreciate. Can't you just say "I still hate Obama but I'm glad he did it"? C'mon, dave, eat your peas. They're healthy, you know.

And as for mainstream republican values, we seem to be running out of mainstream republicans. To wit the latest: Sen. Lugar's primary loss and N.Carolina's vote yesterday on same sex marriage ban.

Unclear how this will affect Obama in swing states. How many are against gay marriage in swing states enough to have their vote turn on it who woul dotherwise have voted for Obama? How many gay independents are there who might have been for Romney but will switch vote over this? Will this motivate the base on the right more than it is already motivated to vote?

I think Obama doesn't have to worry about people who disapprove of his endorsement of same-sex marriage: he didn't have most of those voters anyway. Romney has alienated advocates of it as well as a lot of women because of his stance on the abortion issue & women's health generally. It really will depend on independents which is why I think it's an intelligent decision on the part of the Dems to focus their efforts on voter registration & grass roots support.

Your reading comprehension is really low today, Dave, as I did no such thing. You're really reaching on that one.

"Your description just shows that you really don't understand mainstream Republican values."

Neither do you, as their opposition to same-sex marriage, and homosexuality in general, has been in the top three spots of their "message" for years. Since they have no real ideas on how to improve the economy other that to diss every move the president and the Dems make, homosexuality and whatever else people are in the privacy of their own lives seems to have taken the top spots. If you would care to deny that, then you haven't been on this planet in months. How was your vacation to Alpha Centari?

MM, you still don't understand. mainstream Republicans pander to the religious right and their views on those issues for the votes (Dems pander to the far left).. But leaving out all other issues, if I were gay, I think I'd be more upset with a president who had signed a pledge to take all sorts of aggressive steps to deny me rights than one who was more or less in favor of my rights but was equivocating for political reasons. Only one is committed to actively harming me.

Yes, the North Carolina vote on Gay marriage is such a good reason to leave those issues of equal rights to the states.

From the Republican nominee for president:
“When these issues were raised in my state of Massachusetts, I indicated my view, which is I do not favor marriage between people of the same gender, and I do not favor civil unions if they are identical to marriage other than by name,” Mr. Romney said. “My view is the domestic partnership benefits, hospital visitation rights and the like are appropriate, but that the others are not.”

Pretty clear, no?

Dave, "mainstream Republicans??" What Slopey said. 98% of them are so afraid of the tea-partiers and the religious right that they have totally become a non-entity. They won't do anything to upset them, and therefore remain silent, while good sense is washed down the drain. Therefore, the positions of the far right are, for all intents and purposes, the positions of the entire party.

we'll have to see what Romney's economists project with his proposed platform.

Obama categorically stated that the unemployment rate would not rise above 8% with the first stimulus.
That was more than three years ago and unemployment remains above 8%.

On one hand, you are forever telling us that you have yours; whether it be retirement funds, tax breaks, money, property, or your partnership, and so you don't care what happens to everyone else. Then on the other hand, you are going to get all righteous in your "concern" about how damaging the Democrats are on a national stage. Puh-leeze. You have yours, remember? What do you care?

1. I never said I don't care what happens to everyone else. that makes no sense in a broad outlook for what i want for the economy.

2. Yes, the Dems are damaging to the economy and Obama has no economic plan to address issues. Plus, the ever increasing entitlements are bad for the economy and they are the heart oif the Democratic platform. if you don't believe that then you are living on another planet.

3. What's good for the economy is good for me, and you by the way.

::peeking into the room::

Afternoon, losers! I posted the following on the 'Stoner forum, but am getting no results. Anyone here have ideas?

---
Hola folks! I need some assistance here. I live on a very busy street and get the usual dust, car/truck/bus exhaust, etc. that makes my apartment extra dusty and otherwise pollutes my air. Due to severe allergies and asthma, I recently invested in a high-powered air purifier (which works great by the way) to help with my breathing. But, I'm not one of those people who keeps the windows closed at all times. Of course the air purifier works best when all windows are closed tightly (dammit!). I'm curious if there is any such thing as a window screen with a dust or pollen/allergen filter built into it. I figure that if I can get something like that, it would be feasible to open a few windows a couple of inches without negating the hard work of my air purifier. Does anything like this exist? Or, in the alternative, is there something I can easily attach to my window screens that would do the same filtering work while still allowing air to come in? Thanks!

recent fall in the Unemployment rate is only because people have left the workforce. Obama still has no plan.

But it's really the fault of millionaires and billionaires and the rest of the 10% who pay 90% of the taxes.
May 9, 2012 4:50 PM - MontroseMorris
If Obama hadn't taken the steps and policies he had, the economy would be much worse. Since it's all coulda, woulda, shoulda, and not based on reality, the point is rather moot. He came into the office with the economy we had, one that didn't go under overnight, and he's been trying to get us back on track ever since.

Might I add that he is the President, not the Gandalf the Sorcerer. He does not have the power to wave his wand and fix everything in a day, or even 4 years. He's got to get laws passed by 2 bodies of government, in an atmosphere of hatred by the opposing party, which has done its mighty best to stop everything he comes up with. If you want to bitch about the figures, look to the Republicans who are willing to bring the entire country to a screeching halt in order to make a point.

In spite of that, and yes, in spite of some mistakes, the country has stopped its decent into the toilet, and is coming back. Does he get credit for any of it? No. They can't even give him credit for taking out Bin Laden, and now Mitt is taking credit for Detroit, like he didn't say, "let 'em die" how many times. Please. Enough already.

Snappy, what might work would be the filters they sell for furnaces. You can buy them at HD and there are a variety of quality levels. None of them are transparent though but they are translucent.

They come in a few different sizes but you may have to add something to the side if windows are wide.

They WILL filter out the dust

You'll need to figure out how best to install it given the size of the filter and the size of the screen. Common sense, cardboard and duct tape are usually all that will be necessary

Snappy, it's kinda tacky, and low end, but what if you took one of the HEPA filters that you can buy at HD, and use it as a window screen? Air would circulate, and the particles would be trapped. It won't look nice, but you can breath.

You could do that snappy- basically the allergen window filters look like that, but don't forget, those frames are not airtight. A lot of air can be leaking in around them so you would have to tape up around the screen.

Put the thin window fan between the outer screen and the filter, forcing air in through the filter. Place the filter so that you close the window down on top of it, filling in the gaps. It's very simple.

Snappy I know I'm late here to your quest to breathe. Another suggestion for you: A good old fashioned hardware store usually offers custom screens. They may be able to make them up for you. Filter material may able be available to buy at the same hardware store. A possible substitute would be interfacing used in clothing construction. It costs a couple dollars a yard. The hardware store may be able to fit it into the screen frames for you.

Messages like this really piss me off when I am calling do something that can only be handled by talking to a live human being.

I detest the woman's voice on the Verizon service! They've modulated it a bit so it's not quite so grating but it's still incredibly off-putting. You can also shout, "Agent!" during a period between her fatuous announcements & that can get you to a person faster. And I agree, it's loathesome to be told you should go on their site when what you're phoning about is an inability to get on line.

I don't have cable service today, but I think my building is only Time Warner.

omg, catching up. AWFUL stressful day at work. Bionic Monkey Status, hardcore. and lol but i never laughed at a post as hard as the one above (both posts). it's funny, cuz it's true. Not saying cobble does it, but people do it in park slope. I know that people go into my fav. bodega when they get out of the train and say shit like that. Most of them dont say it out loud, but they think it in their heads. I too could move to a low income neighborhood and ruin it for the people that live there, but I'm not like that. I'm not a neighborhood ruiner, im not a gentrifier. I tried my ass off the last 4 years to degentrify park slope, tried to call in the calvarey, but I failed. I failed miserably. I just think it's awful when people to working class neighborhoods when they are SO are not working class to begin with (their income is MOOT!, as they are totally upwardly mobile) and they bring their upwardly mobile snobby taste and demands with them. I think that's the what's point, I respect that. I don't respect how he talks to some people, but i'm not angel either! But at least im not flitting around some working class neighborhood whining about when that guh-ROSSery Whole Foods will open withing walking distance.

I got my credit card in the mail today. AND an offer for another one. Should I apply for that one too? I have to be honest, I am a little worried. I have to make sure I don't fuck up this second chance with my credit.

Snappy, I feel your pain re:allergies. I suffered for years. My allergist was the head of allergy medicine or whatever they called it, and she said my scores were the highest in the county! That said, the first thing I thought of when you posted was placing plants by the window to trap the allergens/city muck.

http://webecoist.momtastic.com/2009/04/08/air-purifying-plants/

I think many of them can be wiped down or misted in the bathtub every couple of days to remove allergens and street grime.

Also, go to a good screen shop and see if they have a micro-weave screen. Air will still flow and your view will be little changed, but the much tinier holes in the screen will trap particulate matter that can be hosed off periodically. If your aim is to only open the window 3" or so, hop on over to Home Depot and buy a length of 1" x 1" pine to make a frame, which will also support the window, and staple in your screen material. Depending on how large your window opening is, you may be able to pick up some scrap pieces from their 'boneyard' at about 50 cent per piece.

Rob, cut up the other credit app. You need to pace yourself otherwise your credit report will be negatively impacted by so much activity. Also, this second card balance would count towards your income to debt ratio, and probably lower your numerical score. The numerical score is often used to figure out how much risk the credit card company believes you represent, and therefore they adjust your interest rate upwards based on that.

May 9, 2012 7:42 PM - rf
Rob, it's better if you use this card, pay back, and then get a bigger credit limit on this card.

Agreeance Partridge. Im already having a bit of a problem with payday loans. I keep falling further and further behind. Im not talking about payday loans from a company. Im talking about borrowing money from my roommate until the next payday. Except it started out on the weekend before I would get paid, and now it's like an entire week before I get paid kinda thing. Totally absurd. I want him to be like flat out no when I ask. How im not totally embarrassed of this behavior I do not know. I mean I DO always pay back in full the second I get paid, but it's like as the months have gone by it's gotten to the point where it's become a regular thing. He's awesome to help me out in that way, but I am kind of embarrassed about being such a scrub. This week and next im having a pay period of hardcore austerity to see if I can manage NOT to have to borrow money before next payday... Of course here comes the credit card in the mail and i'm like hmm. Well I guess in a sense next week I can buy stuff on the credit card and pay back the bank just like I would pay back my roommate? At least by using the credit card to cover me during my broke week before payday I won't have to borrow money so i'll look less like a scrub? I can't believe im admitting to this, but whatev.

Went for a second iced coffee today at the korean deli (screw starbucks) and they put it in the counter and I had this total freak out and was like omg NO i can't have that and ran out of the deli. Thank god the meanie genie korean lady who makes fun of me wasn't there today or I'd be too embarrassed to show my face in there again.

oh and THIS is funny. A waffle truck opened up across the street from me at work with a help wanted sign for a waffle maker (this sign has been up for like a week now..) Im almost tempted to go up and say yes i'd like to make waffles (i have experience in waffle making as some of you know lol) it would be awesome if I could leave work, put on the waffle hat and get in the truck and make waffles for a few hours before heading back home. Obviously I would need training. That last place didn't provide enough training they expected it to just come naturally. It doesnt work that way!

But a lot of the stuff you put in the package my grandmother's granddaughter would LOVE. And I totally am a firm believer in passing on gifts to other people. Means a lot more. Of course, everything I sent was to make you smile in some way, so whether you used/played with the gifts or passed them on to someone who would, as long as it made you smile at the end of the day, it's all good. You have a huge creative streak, so one never knows what will spark a fire under you!

Oh, yes, I remember punchbowl-gate and the ensuing (and continuing) fallout from that. Wasn't there an incident with a guy named Dave who had a cucumber avatar, who sent you a custom painting that you gave away? I know people put a lot of themselves into their gifts, and I appreciate that they feel their gifts are precious, but if you send gifts to someone you only know online, without any other connection, then you have to get used to the fact that at some point, they'll be passed on, to someone who may appreciate them more.

That's sad, on so many levels. My grandfather didn't live with us during the week (he lived in a trailer in south jersey near his job site). I think part of his job was being the night watchman as well, so it made sense. Kids get sad when they don't see their parents that often (until they turn about 11 or 12). I used to jump for joy every friday around 4 or 5 pm when he would be driven home by one of his coworkers for the weekend. Of course I would demand my allowance and my grandmother would demand "her pay". He would leave around 6 in the morning on monday morning and I would get up before school at like 4 am and have coffee with him and listen to the country radio station. And if my grandmother's mother happened to have stayed over that weekend, we'd have a bitch session about what a cunt she was to everyone and how she farts in her sleep and how her makeup makes her look like an 80 year old whore.

Gothamist is covering it: http://gothamist.com/2012/04/24/carroll_gardens_coffee_hater_cant_s.php

Someone should start a petition in support of D'Amico. They really deserve it, they're a classic old school business, and these complaints are crap. D'Amico would prolly pay for them to move to stop this nonsense.

We used to have amazing bookstore around here (you should have seen the outrage when a Borders moved in! It became this big political mess because the mayor owned a long standing bookstore a couple of blocks down the road). Anyway, since the whole e-reader phenom started, we've seen our bookstores erode away. Really sad. Funny, the Borders finally left last year, but the ex-mayor's is still standing along with the most awesome used bookstore that's been here forever (and was across the street from the Borders).

I love used books, I love bending the binding, folding pages, etc. The thing I love most about park slope (well one of them, and yes I have a number of reasons why i do *CHOOSE* to live here) is that you can walk around on any given saturday or sunday morning and there are tons of books out on peoples stoops for the taking <3. The best is when you find someone who put out a ton and they have the same taste as you and you can't fill your bag and you'e like ugh, dont be so greedy hahahaha. I always try to take no more than 3 books when I see a bunch of free books out. I can deal with music in digital format, but I wouldn't be able to enjoy reading as much on digital readers, it would feel like im reading the book on the internet. just not the same, really, it's not. It's similar to how some people feel about vinyl records versus basically everything else. There is a total purity to books. I dont even hoard them, I keep no more than 2 shelves of books, I always leaves the books I've found and read on the subways for other people to find and take. SO many times I've found a random book and it just amazed me because of when and where I found it and it's physical condition. Downloading a book, not the same at all. I don't want access to everything written ever at the tip of my fingertips, i want certain books to come to ME. I want certain books to mean something and I just love reading on the subway from 845-915 and 545-615 everyday. It's my Zen time. I can totally listen to an ipod versus other music devices and get the same feeling, but when it comes to books? hells no, could not do a digital reader. Plus when you spend so much time in front of a lit screen, how could you NOT want to be focusing on something not lit like a book!?!?

books and reading, im mad old school about it!

okay, about to go watch some porn now (now THAT is something that is amazing in the internet and digital world!)

Well that was a total quickie! But I do have a ton of stuff I have to get tonight so I couldn't be asked to be spending the majority of the night pulling my pudd.

Here are some things I glean sometimes while watching porn.

1.) If I was a straight woman I would TOTALLY want both my holes (the ones down there) plugged at the same time. They seem to really LOVE IT! I lol when straight guys dicks accidently touch. Some guys freak out, but some embrace it. I say this as a person who is genetically gay but doesn't even like it up the butt. But it seems like women love it 10x more? Especially if there is another guy around doing her in the vajayjay. Bonus points if another female is recording the whole thing.

2.) no one REALLY enjoys sucking cock. No one. People can pretend all they want. But have you ever seen any other species than human suck cock before!? There might be a lick here or there, but none of that up and down motion that humans attribute to penal felatio!!!! I was never a big a fan of cock sucking. It's almost degrading. Other than Dave, do ANY of you enjoy sucking cock? I bet no one does.

3.) When it comes to gay porn, SO much of it, even amateur stuff, gay guys are always trying to act. So much of it seems so phoney baloney. And too many people acting a certain role that they kinda sorta just are not good at. Too many mismatches in gay porn. I dont want to say it but I sometimes believe that gay men often have a very rigid personality schematic that prevents them from branching out and really enjoying themselves. it's always about them, never seems like it's about their partner. Granted, in straight mainstream porn this is the case too. I've just noticed that with gay sex, across the board, it's sorta beyond egotistical for both (or ten) parties. What's wrong with just relaxing and enjoying it and taking it where it goes? Tops try WAY too hard to be domineering (fail) and bottoms are just way too fucking whiney. I'm a top by nature, but I can't be asked to be all omg OoOOoOoOOO OoooOOOooOOo im fucking you im FUCKING you! ew! and bottoms are always whining how it hurts but they keep wanting more and more. Why would someone want something that hurts? I tried it a few times, it hurt like hell, I was like oh hells no! Exit only down there. Yes I know there are ways to relax that muscle but at the same time it's psychological warefare on your own anus. that can't be healthy.

4.) men who are shaved EVERYWHERE are gross. Every man in modern day porn looks like a seal. It's the antithesis of 80s females in porn! Sorry but that was gross too everyone looked like a wooley mammoth! Is there no happy medium!?

Going to take a bubble bath now and scrub the awful images I just watched out of my brain. Things are SO hot until you squirt. Why is that? (legion, you're a doctor, can you explain that phenomenon?) This is why I don't trust sex with anyone unless you totally love them and find them sexy post-sex. GROSS. Oddly, i've never blown my load getting sucked off, ever. My brain doesnt work that way and im like wtf are you doing? Not sexy, not erotic, intimiate (well sorta intimate) but not load worthy.

I am SO sorry I shared all this just now. You can all go collectively puke in the bathroom of the PLUSA office. Gazoo fixed the books and we are getting all new bidets for y'alls vaginas and asses delights installed tomorrow.
