Site hosting, technology, and security

In response to a question last night:

This site is hosted on a Virtual Private Server from OpenVirtuals, using their SSD-Combo Professional plan.
I am the only one who has access to the OpenVirtuals account.

The virtual server runs Debian Linux (currently Debian 8 - Jessie).
I am the only one who can log into the server.
The virtual server is only used for lifeinbklyn.

The http server is Apache2, and the database server is MySQL.

Backups are taken nightly, stored on Amazon Web Services S3, and can only be accessed by me.

If you don't behave the Russians kick you out of the secret meetings. Trump is very polite to the Russians.

Amazon is another one of those places where I was using my stupid amazon fire tablet for YEARS to take all kinds of pics and they were stored in their cloud... and then when you delete them, they aren't permanently deleted and wind up showing up again days or weeks later without you knowing! Don't even get me started how I was sending pics from my amazon cloud picture account and at the bottom of all the emails and text messages it said in TINY print "to see all other pictures click here" and then everyone had instant access to every picture I ever took on that damn device. SHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY DEEEEEEEEEEEe

Good choices all around. I'm presuming the stable build of Debian 8. LAMP stack. Drupal? Joomla? I forget. Which virtual engine? We wound up using VmWare at the salt mine. Wicked expensive. VirtualBox? Xen?

Yes, stable build of Debian 8, with all the default stable versions of Apache, MySQL, and PHP.

Honestly, I am note sure what virtual engine is used, but I think is OpenVZ.

The code is all PHP that I wrote.
About the only thing that is not mine is the engine used to filter HTML for posts.

The prior version of the site was Drupal.
