A Farmhouse in New York

While the exterior 'after' isn't all that shocking, it's still a nice job. How do you feel about country interiors?

Not a huge fan of the rich people playing farmhouse look, but seems well done for what it is.

Simple, traditional. Nothing not to like here. The flea market paintings give the house an antique feeling without weighing it down in dusty, old furnishings. And my favorite part? Nothing 'pops'. I don't want my place to pop. I prefer it recedes.

Nice renovation. Kitchen colors are off though.
Part, you would love my hairline.

It's ok. It's a good example of how relatively easy these things are when you have a lot of money. The exterior looks great.

I love old farmhouses, I grew up in one, and they shouldn't be made grander than they originally were, and they succeeded here. They did a good job, although except for the hallway with the landscapes, the overall look is pretty bland.

It's interesting how they got funky with some things, like plugging the holes in the floor, and then went out and bought a new clawfoot tub, instead of getting a real antique one. Even though they are now overpriced at salvage yards, it would still have been much less money, and been more "authentic." A new tin ceiling wouldn't have been that big a deal either. I wonder how much of the plaster was salvageable, too.

The kitchen is not wowing me. The only thing I really like are the lights. The rest is just ok. Overall, there's too much white for my taste. Most old farmhouses had lots of wallpaper and color. I can see not doing that, I wouldn't either, but I would have more color on more walls. I hope their cleaning person is getting a good wage.

i must admit that of all that i've posted thus far, this is my least favorite. overall it's just not my style. i think the slate backsplash in the kitchen is horrendous and i'm stumped by their decision not to replace the tin ceiling in the dining room. i do like the paneled staircase, but that's where it ends for me. i keep wondering how this house would've looked in red. maybe too much? i dunno. but this reno bores me. it screams 'safe.'

Underwhelmed. New windows must have cost a fortune but will save future headaches. Prefer the changes in the California craftsman mostly.
