LifeinBklyn 2.06 - the Ignore edition

Over the past week, I've made a number of minor enhancements to the site, largely behind the scenes with backups, session management, logging, and admin interfaces.

The key user-side feature being released is "Ignore."

Go to someone's profile page (the easiest way is by clicking on their avatar next to a comment), and there is an option to ignore the person.

When ignoring a person, you will not see any comments they make, and in other places you will not see their name or avatar.
A list of people you are ignoring will be show on the left side, with links to take you back to their profile and stop ignoring them.

Please note that due to the way new comment counts are kept, when you ignore and stop ignoring a person the counts may not be updated immediately or accurately.

The person you are ignoring has no way of knowing that you are doing so, and that person can still see all of your posts in public groups and private groups that you are both members of.

I also fixed an issue when editing where multiple line breaks were collapsed into one.

I think it may prove to be a good thing for some. Hopefully it will re-engage the long lost and give peace to others from time to time. Thanks for your responsiveness to the community and your efforts, Scott.

To reiterate a statement I made about ignore before:

My philosophy behind the ignore feature is that it does not do anything that any user of the site could not on their own with some fairly simple browser-side scripting.

I think that any user should be able to choose how they view the site, and that includes choosing to hide things they do not want to see.

Based on recent discussions, I will remove the feature if a significant majority of the members wish to.
