Community Standards

OK, this has been talked about before, but I wanted a thread more focused on it.

The question is, what should out community standards be for public comments?

Clear prohibitions for me include:
- Non-pubic, personal information about others
- Pornographic Images
- Bestiality Images

Other areas that are more grey include:
- repeated and malicious personal attacks
- Racism and hate speech

Other thoughts or categories?

In the near future I am looking for ways to have private areas where some of the standards could be relaxed.
However, even in private areas there will need to be some sort of standards to meet legal requirements.

I left off another clearly prohibited category: Spam.

We've had 2 spam posts so far that I have deleted.
One was from an unregistered user, and one from a registered user that had not posted anything else

will you require registration to combat the spam issue?

I'd rather not require registration, but is certainly a first step to implement if spam gets out of hand.

A related question: Should the standards be higher on "real" articles than they are on the OT?

My initial inclination is yes, but I do not know to what level or how to best document the higher standards.

I agree - non "pubic" information.

Sorry, but it's right there!

Ha, there's a Freudian slip.
I wonder if we can work it into the site's gender verification process.

"I wonder if we can work it into the site's gender verification process." I want to be on that committee!
And what's this- no bestiality? But I have cat pictures. Many cat pictures. :(
